Report of the debate on the Earl of Moira's motion, Monday, Feb.19, 1798,in the House of Lords in Ireland: "That an humble address be presented to his Excellency, The LordLieutenant, representing that, as Parliament hath confided to His Excellency extraordinary power for supporting the laws, and for defeating any traitorous combination which may exist in thiskingdom, this House feels it, at the same time, a duty to recommmend the adoption of such conciliatory measures as may allay theapprehensions and extinguish the discontents unhappily prevalent in this country."
